Features…
*Unique core layout for optimal effeciency
* largest surface area of any G3 WRX top mount intercooler on the market
*comes complete with underhood duct
After looking at all of the available top mounts for the 08/11 WRX from my competitors it was clear that they took the easy way out when designing their upgrade piece. All they have done is simply copy the factory part and make it thicker.
Always thinking outside the square I could see that the best way to produce a product that is truly a better performing intercooler than anything else on the market was to increase the flow length and therefore the surface area of the intercooler.
Increasing the intercooler surface area beyond that of the factory unit is all well and good but only if all of the ambient air is available to all of the upgrade intercooler so maximum heat exchange can take place. The answer here is of course a revised under bonnet duct.
The new Process West 08/11 WRX intercooler addresses all of the above issues and it does it very well. My new top mounted intercooler is virtually a small front mounted intercooler mounted in the engine bay. With a massive 400mm flow length (almost double the factory unit) and a not too thick 90mm bar and plate core an effective top mount is now here.

Testing
The test mule is a mildly modified 08 WRX. It has a 3in turbo back exhaust and a Southern Motor Works tuned Haltec Platinum interceptor.
Below graph shows a log of the intercooler outlet temps during one dyno pull.
Top line is the stock intercooler, lower line the PW intercooler
Ive always said that dynos are the worst possible environment to test a top mount but each intercooler here was subjected to exactly the same test condition..(bonnet up with a 12in thermo fan secured to the intercooler)
Its easy to see that the stock intercooler is a very bad performer. Temps rising to 90 degree C in only one pull on the dyno. The PW unit saw a max of 45 degree C.
Pic below shows the power difference. You will see that the dyno pull on the PW intercooler was cut short due to the car being being on the lean side. Some of the increased power can be attributed to the leaner air/fuel mixture but it is easy to see that the vastly different intercooler outlet temps make a huge difference in power output.
